Slowly but surely, we've crawled our way up to Page 7 of the very odd, very silly
rumors! Can you believe that? That's enough rumors to fill seven pages of a
website!
The following were apparently listed on the IMDB for a brief amount of time. Though the IMDB
has corrected most of them in the cast list, the quotes page still lists many of the bad names. I looked into this when I got a few questions asking where the names came from. Lesson - The IMDB is only as reliable as the people who submit to it. A big thanks goes to the people over at Forum Lunare for tracking down the source so fast.
A special note on the following rumors. The whole set is from The Otaku Witch. They come from a UK kiddie
activity magazine, Fun to Learn, that featured Sailormoon in one issue. Now, the UK has only run the first 82 episodes of the North American dub. However, the magazine used the names
Serena, Ami, Makoto, Rei, Minako, Mamoru, Corrine, Nerissa, and Chibi-Usa for the cast. Even stranger
than this mix of names is the fact that it also references (badly) events from SailormoonS, which hasn't even
been shown over there. Click here for a scan of the article (courtesy of The Otaku Witch.)
And it's
back to the ruthless Mamoru bashing! Kamen is actually japanese for mask. Because he
wears a mask. This may be a difficult concept to grasp, but please try.
I'm trying to figure out where this Y7 rating comes from. I checked Right Stuf, Pioneer's web distributor, which
came up with several ratings for the film, none of which are "Y7." The dubbed VHS version was given
an all-ages rating. Of course, this is the edited version, so it's been hacked to bits. The uncut
subbed VHS has a rating of 13 and up, as does the bilingual uncut DVD release. Of course, the
Y7 rating not being on these has a lot to do with the fact that it's a rating that only appears
on TV broadcasts, not on videotapes or DVDs! Oh, and to re-iterate: just because one dub changes
something doesn't make it fact for every other version in existence, especially the version
that came first.
YOW! They're related?! Sailormoon just took some very strange
turns...
Agh! Stop
putting men in sailor fuku! It wasn't meant to happen! In particular, because the generals
don't even possess dormant Sailor Crystals, let alone the fact that men can't become
Sailor Senshi.
I believe it is impossible to be possessed by yourself.
Hotaru IS Saturn.
It's called
the Purity Chalice, a much less stupid name.
And thank you SO MUCH, Negavision Fandubs, for that falsity. If you'd been paying
attention, Sailor Moon's ratings were actually pretty good during the first run of S and SuperS. They
didn't start plummeting until they starting repeating. There's only so many times you can sit and
watch a badly mangled dub, not that I'd expect a fandub group to understand that. Darn, let that
bitterness slip through, didn't I?
Wouldn't it be awful hard for Saturn to
have to lug a big ol' grave around with her? She uses the Silence Glaive.
Okay...let's try this again...Hotaru is Sailor Saturn. Mistress 9 died when Hotaru
reawakened and became Sailor Saturn. If HOTARU dies, so does Saturn, because they are the same person.
Do we understand now?
I knew this
would happen eventually...no, a dub screwing up and being inconsistent with attack names does not
make a mis-labeled attack a totally different attack. "Super Moon Target" is the bizarre name the dub gave
to Super Sailor Moon's attack, "Moon Gorgeous Meditation," which is the Japanese name. Look at the animation,
it's exactly the same! All they did was screw up the dialogue.
I don't know what the dub has been telling you, but Usagi seems
rather secure in Mamoru not falling for someone else, unless Usagi starts feeling that she herself is
worthless in comparison. That's different from not trusting Mamoru, that's Usagi not believing in herself.
If by "Morale Booster" you mean "fries
things with lightening," then yes.
I wasn't aware that the Japanese school system
taught French. I guess Haruka's no longer having trouble with modern Japanese then.
Dark Dome Close will close the Space-Time Door, but not permanently. Furthermore, it is not Pluto's
forbidden power - that is her Time Stop.
*gasp* Haruka, how could you!? Don't you know the power
of cheese?
Chibi Usa's guardians
are the Sailor Quartetto. Pluto guards the Space-Time Door. Big difference.
"Slip into that cute leather, Lady, because
Beryl's going to punish you!" Sorry, sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, Beryl was already dead by the time
the Black Moon family showed up, so she had nothing to do with Black Lady.
Only if Usagi were to skip the rest of high school
or Mamoru were to flunk out of college bad enough to be sent back. Even in the manga he goes to a private school,
not Juuban.
Crystal is an element?
Wow, Mina got her first AND last name screwed up. Plus "Heno" and "Hino" are pronounced differently.
No idea where Phillips came from, though Mixx uses Shields.
She's an RPG series?
Hey, dead man walkin'. He did use the name Jed in Raye's entrance episode in the dub, but we never heard his last name.
Collins?
Now, now, don't go switching BS on me! Pick a BS and stick with it! Either way, the dub never gave out a last name.
Again, no last name given. He had one in Japan, but it was Kumada.
Now it's just getting unoriginal, what with Lita getting "Jenkins."
Ami wants to be a doctor, Hotaru wants to be a nurse.
Uhhh...okay.
Makoto says in the manga she wants to own a bakery and flower shop, and to be a bride. I think the Sailor Senshi
deal is enough protecting the community for her anyway.
Not only do they have names,
but the "heart" is a jewel, the Garnet Orb.
Trying to figure out how to phrase it...but yea, it called the Holy Grail the Moon Goblet. The American dub calls it the Purity Chalice. Where are these editors getting this stuff?
Otaku Witch had this to say: "[it] suggests that she had never become sailor moon till that point!! Which makes you wonder how she
survived constant monster attack for about a year without dying ;P" Couldn't have put it better myself.
