Updates

Yes, you've entered the land where I post all the update notices. Probably the most boring page on the site.

Ah, nothing like going one year between site updates and...what, two between LoveQuest chapters? There's not much that's changed here - no new chapters yet, and two pieces of fanart in the archive. One piece from Tenchi that I got ages ago and should have already added. Sorry^^; And one piece from a new artist, Myu-chan. Myu-chan also pointed out that I spelled Brooke Fencl's name wrong. Sorry Brooke^^;

As for the fate of LoveQuest - it's not a forgotten effort, but the Kamishibai medium has significantly died down since the story began. When I put that kind of effort into a creative project, I want it to be seen by as many people as possible. I want to continue LoveQuest, and I have a half-completed chapter still, but how many people still read Kamishibai? And even then, I got back and look at what I've worked on, and I realize others may like it, but I'm downright disappointed with the many slow parts and the fact that I don't like how the story played out to that point anymore. Let me explain - LoveQuest was planned to be a short series - Princess rescues Prince with help of magic mirror. Well, I kept feeling that wasn't enough for the kind of people I was writing about, and I kept expanding the world in my head nad in my notes. But the way the first three chapters were written left me extremely limited on how to incorporate those concepts. So I tried to BS my way to get them in, but it wasn't nearly as effective as I had hoped. Let's take Michael - when I first wrote him, he didn't even have a name - he was supposed to have one scene. I named him only for convenience. But I realized there was something more to him and took him along for the ride. Eventually I had a backstory for him and had to try and cram it into the epic. The result? The plot skidded to a halt.

There's also the matter that I'm not satisfied with my artwork. To continue from where I'd left off, I could either continue using those 5 year old templates, or I could just draw new artwork for further chapters. Neither appeals to me - I hate the templates, and I don't want the jarring effect of new art compared to the older work. If I were to go back to the older chapters, I wouldn't just re-draw them - I'd want to rewrite the entire thing to streamline it into something I myself am satisfied with. So you see the dilemma I'm facing (if not, don't worry - we creative types tend be pretty nutty people!)

I don't want this to be the end of LoveQuest - I will find some way to revive it. But with these considerations in mind, expect quite some delay in the further release of chapters, especially if I finally decide to start from scratch again. If the medium changes, then I have to get a LOT better at artwork first^^; If it stays the same, I've still got to draw again. And in the meantime, I'm a college student now, and though I thought I'd always want to write this, the complete change of life structure that resulted has thrown me off balance.

In any case, stay tuned guys - I'll figure this out somehow. But for further evidence of the dying community, I had to empty out half the Kamishibai links, and only one or two of the sites I linked still even update. Looks like I'm not alone-_-

Just when you thought there would be no more updates this year, here comes one now!

First off, I cleared out the old update notices from 2001. I've added some pictures to the fanart section, plus a few new submission policies have been added due to some recent submissions. Finally, eViL rEbO's realm has been updated, including her 15th rant! Enjoy.

I would also like to announce that I am in the process of finding a new web host. Why? Because since June, I've opened a new website Sailor Moon Urban Legends Central. I'm also working on a third website, a Tuxedo Kamen shrine. Finally, I want more space to be able to host my Kamishibai stories. When I initially signed up for Tripod, the offer was 50MB. I figured that would hold me for some time. Well, the amount has been sliced in half now and it seems that free hosting is no longer an option if I am to continue hosting these stories for free download. So, I am going to move on up in the world and purchase a domain name and graduate to the world of paid hosting. I have a few options at the moment, and I'm very excited about this new journey! Plus, when this site relaunches at the new domain, I intend to do some major revamping, including a new layout and more features.

In the meantime, here's hoping I get more LoveQuest chapters out in 2003! I've been stuck on the same storyline for almost four years now ^_^;

There's a new rant up in the eViL rEbO archive. I'll get a fanfic archive up soon enough, don't worry...

And you thought I'd abandoned my site. Well, it's back, and I've gone through the trouble of overhauling every page on the site to give it a new look. In addition to the visual upgrade, several sections have been updated.

  • The fanart section now has a new piece of art by Toni that SHOULD have already been there! He sent it to me months ago! Sorry about the delay, Toni!
  • The artwork section features two updates to two old pieces of art, Sailor Firefly and Yuki. They've both been reduced in size and have had spiffy backgrounds added to them.
  • Some of the character profiles have been updated to reflect the latest chapter.
  • The eViL rEbO MSTings archive has officially opened! Not Kamishibai related, but for people who were fans of eViL rEbO's rantings, they've finally gotten a permanent home. If you've never read them before, now's a good time to start.
  • I've updated the links page.
Also, there's been some minor corrections here and there that aren't large enough to warrant a mention. I'll try not to let the site go for so long again...

Wow, I actually updated right after a DIFFERENT update! There's some new fanart up by Tenchi that's worth viewing, and I've also updated the links page with new links, changed links, and removing of dead links.

Yea, yea, it's a new year and I've finally gotten around to updating this site again. But I update with some minor typo corrections across the board and also with a BRAND NEW chapter of LoveQuest, before it hits OtakuWorld. A perfect excuse to update! Enjoy the chapter!

Venus, take me back!
